This black and white illustration is of a map showing indications of important places during the Battle of Arkansas Post, also known as Battle of Fort Hindman, including Morgan's Corps with Smith and Osterhaus, first position, Sherman's Corps with Steel and Stuart, Steel Stuart and Smith, Rifle Pits, Lindsey, Piles, transports along the Arkansas, Reserves DeCourcy, and Nortrib's Farm. The title in the lower right corner of the map reads "Battle of Arkansas Post, Jan. 11, 1863". The book's title is at the top of the page and the page number is in the left corner. This is illustration is on page 138 of volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
