Description
This black and white illustration is of Admiral Franklin Buchanan, an officer in the United States Navy who became the only full admiral in the Confederate Navy during the American Civil War and Commodore Josiah Tattnall, an officer in the United States Navy and then later served in the Confederate Navy during the American Civil War. The men are depicted seated angled toward each other with Buchanan pointing a finger at Tattnall. Both men are depicted wearing dark suits, vests, and ties. The men's names are captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is from volume nine, in pages 470-471 of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
