Description
This black and white illustration is of Albert Pike, an American author, poet, orator, editor, lawyer, jurist and Confederate general who served as an associate justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court in exile from 1864 to 1865. Pike is depicted wearing a dark suit and vest with medals and regalia. The artist's name is written on along the bottom left edge of the illustration. "Truly Yours Albert Price" is depicted as handwritten below the illustration and "G. Com. Supreme Council of 33rd Degree Southern Jurisdiction of U. S." is captioned at the bottom of the page. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
