This black and white illustration is of J. P. Usher, an American administrator who served in the Cabinet of President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. Usher is depicted wearing a dark suit, vest and tie with a white shirt. The illustration is set within a thin box and Usher's name is beneath. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
