This black and white illustration depicts a group of nine men identified in the caption as The Lincoln Guard of Honor, organized in Springfield, Illinois, February 12, 1880. The men are identified as J. F. McNeill (Treasurer), N. B. Wiggins, J. C. Power (Secretary), E. S. Johnson, G. S. Dana (President), C. L. Conckling, J. N. Reece (Vice President), Horace Chapin and J. P. Lindley. Five of the men are seated with four men standing behind them. All of the men are depicted wearing dark suits, vests and ties with white shirts. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
