This is a portrait of John C. Calhoun, seventh vice-president of the United States, in an embossed oval illustrated frame. A circular illustration of people in a cotton field is in the bottom center of the illustrated frame with Calhoun's name written beneath it. The portrait is within volume one of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
