Description
This black and white illustration is of Franklin (Frank) Pierce, the 14th president of the United States serving from 1853 to 1857. Pierce is depicted as wearing a dark suit, vest, and tie with a white shirt. There is some light shading behind the illustration and "Engraved by J. d. Buttre from a Daguerreotype by Root." is directly beneath the illustration. Pierce's signature is depicted below the illustration with "President of the United States" captioned beneath. The illustration is within volume two of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
