Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal es una revista digital, peer-reviewed, con acceso abierto y gratuito cuyo enfoque es la producción cultural, literaria y otras formas de expresión artística en Centroamérica. El proyecto nace de la imaginación del gran Humano- pintor, escritor, artista y para muchos el maestro- Ricardo Aguilar, quien en el 2019 conoce a la profesora y crítica cultural salvadoreña, Karina Zelaya. A partir de ese momento, comienzan a trabajar en hacer de Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal una realidad. Tristemente, en octubre del 2021, Ricardo pasó a otra dimensión cósmica, a tan solo meses antes de que la revista se publicara. A pesar de esta pérdida, Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal toma vida, brindando un espacio para compartir la expresión de múltiples voces críticas y sus visiones sobre el Istmo. La publicación espera inspirar y motivar a varias generaciones de escritores, artistas e investigadores a compartir su trabajo. De esta manera la revista está diseñada para fomentar la experimentación y colaboración entre artistas y escritores al mismo tiempo que mantiene un compromiso con el estudio y avance del pensamiento crítico sobre la cultura (y otras formas de expresión artística), expandiendo así el conocimiento y comprensión de la región centroamericana dentro y fuera de sus fronteras político-geográficas.

Actualmente la revista se publica dos veces al año. Se aceptan entregas en español, inglés y portugués en las categorías de ensayos y reseñas académicas, producción literaria y de creación en las artes plásticas. About this journal

Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal is a double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access digital journal focusing on Central American literary and other forms of cultural and artistic production. The project was birthed out of the imagination of the great Humano- painter, writer, spiritual guide, and maestro to many- Ricardo Aguilar who in 2019 met Salvadoran native, based in the United States, Karina Zelaya, an educator and a Cultural Studies scholar. Since then, they began to work on making Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal a reality. Sadly, Ricardo parted into another cosmic dimension on October 2021, a few months before the publication became live. In spite of this loss, Güirigüiri: A Literary & Cultural Journal comes to life, providing a space for critical voices to express and share their vision of the Isthmus. The publication aims to inspire and to encourage various generations of Central American writers, artists, and scholars to share their work. In this way, the journal is designed to foster experimentation and collaboration among artists while at the same time remaining committed to critical studies of culture that advance and extend the reach and understanding of the Central American region in and outside of its politico-geographic boarders.

The journal is currently published on a semiannual basis. It accepts works in the categories of academic essays, literary production or creative writing, plastic arts, and popular culture.
