Description
1- The Secretary of the Interior recently withdrew a proposal to put the Alabama Sturgeon on the Endangered Species List. That was the right decision, but many people have criticized the Endangered Species Act, saying it has gone too far in recent years. In many cases, the benefits of listing an animal or fish are far outweighed by the economic damage it could cause in the affected communities. You have the same concerns, as do many members of Congress. Will there by efforts to bring more balance to this law in the new session of Congress?; 2 Committee assignments and leadership positions have now been filled for the 104th Congress that begins in January. Will you remain on the Veterans Affairs and Armed Services Committees? ; 3- A recent report from the Pentagon indicated that the Defense Department might not recognize Persian Gulf Syndrome as an illness. That is contrary to the effort you led in the last Congress to provide compensation for Persian Gulf veterans suffering from these still-undiagnosed illnesses. What is the latest on this?
