Franklin E. Smith,(second from right, back row) and Stennis (third from left, back row) while visiting Washington as part of the "Valley Forge Pilgrimage. These school representatives joined with students and teachers from 48 other schools throughout the nation who were selected for principal award for their classrooms programs on teaching citizenship. The student-teacher teams received a George Washington Honor medal, a "Freedom Library" and an all-expense trip to Valley Forge to participate in the Pilrimage with other winning schools. The Valley Forge Pilgrimage is a three-day, all-expense educational tour which includes visits to historical shrines inthe Valley Forge-Philadelphia-Washington, DC area. These schools were selected for award by a nonpartisan awards jury of State Supreme Court jurists and executive officers of patriotic, military, and service clubs.
