Description
Twelve pages of original court documents from the State v. Joiner case dating 1843. The case was heard in the State of Mississippi Lowndes County Circuit Court.
Transcription
The State of Mississippi, Lowndes County, charged John Joiner with larcany. John was the principal and Burrell and Isaac Joiner the securities in 1843. John was fined $500 while Burrell and Isaac were fined $250 each if John did not appear for court. Sidney S. Franklin gave a surety bond on the debt in 1845. One enslaved man, Madison, property of Isaac Joiner, was levied on the said debt. A decree from Albert G. Brown, Governor of Mississsippi, remitted the sentence for Burrell and Isaac February 3, 1846.
