Written account of a claim against the estate of Joel Ailes, deceased, by Archibald Allen, for $350 for the sale of an unnamed enslaved woman, sold by Ailes on behalf of Allen, but Allen did not receive the proceeds of the sale. The quotation marks (" ") in the transcript field means that the information in the line above is repeated.

Transcription

This day came before me (a qualified Justice of the Peace for Jefferson County, Kentucky) Archibald Allen and made oath that Joel Ayles Dec'd of Natchez is indebted to him three hundred and fifty dollars for a negro woman sent to him by Messers Lewes + Holbert to sell and that said Negro was sold by said Ayles in the year 1813 and that said Allen has never received one cent of the proceeds given under my hand the 22 day of July 1818 John Bell JPJC
