Receipt for the sale of a boy named Gabriel, for William A. Burnside.
Transcription
Received of William A Burnside three hundred and sixty dollars in full payment for a Negro boy named Gabriel about nine or ten years old which boy I warrant be sound in both boddy [sic] and mind + slave for life the title of the said boy I warrant to be good against all others. Given uner my hand and seal this 8th day of January 1845 R.B. Vernon.
