Summons to appear before the Justice of the Peace in Adams County in regard to the cruelty case agains John D. Lenier.
Transcription
The State of Mississippi Adams County Moses Neill personally appeared before the undersigned Justice of the Peace and made oath that a certain John D. Lenier inflicts upon a negro woman slave named Fanny cruel and unsual punishments — contrary to the form of the statute in that case made and provided. Sworn to [[?]] before me 31 August 1821 H. Tooley } Moses Neill You are therefore hereby commanded to [[?]] the said John D. Leiner and bring him and the aforesaid negro woman slave Fanny before me to be proceeded against and dealt with according to law. Given under my hand [[?]] this 31 August 1821. To any lawful office to execute to } H. Tooley (seal)
