Description
This handwritten letter, dated January 5, 1944, is written from W. N. (William Neill) Bogan, Jr. at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia to his grandmother and aunt in West Point, Mississippi. The letter expresses his thanks for the Christmas and birthday money they sent him, as well as for their hand in the box of homemade candies he received for his birthday. The letter goes on to describe what he's been doing, the weather, and his anticipation for his upcoming furlough. The letter is signed, "All my love, Son." The envelope is postmarked Lexington, Virginia, January 6, 1944 and the postage is designated as "free."
