Description
This handwritten letter, dated August 26, 1945, is written from W. N. (William Neill) Bogan, Jr. where he is stationed in Germany to his family in West Point, Mississippi. The letter explains that his days are pretty much the same and describes his daily activities and complains that the Army's "much publicized Educational and Recreational Program" as it "hasn't touched us." The letter goes on to describe the nearby city and what is left of them after the war. The letter concludes with discussions of news from home. The letter is signed "Devotedly, Buddy" and a purple postmark for West Point, Mississippi, September 6, 1945 is in the right lower third of the last page. The air mail envelope is postmarked U. S. Army Postal Service, August 30, 1945 and a red six cent air mail postage stamp is in the upper right. A purple postmark for West Point, Mississippi, September 6, 1945 is in the lower left.
