Description
This handwritten letter, dated May 23, 1943, is written from W. N. Bogan Jr. in St. Petersburg, Florida where he is stationed for training to his parents and family in West Point, Mississippi. The letter discusses how he is fairing with maintaining his wardrobe, his pleasure at finally being able to attend an Episcopal Church, and how he plans to use his pass. The letter goes on to speculate that he may be moving again. The letter is written on United States Army Air Forces St. Petersburg, Florida stationary with a pare of golden wings in the top center of the first page. The envelope is postmarked Saint Petersburg, Florida, may 24, 1943 and "Free" is handwritten in the space typically reserved for the postage stamp. Included with the letter is a program for the May 23, 1943 services for St. Peter's Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. The cover of the four page program includes a sketch of the church tower, the rector's name, and the church's contact information. The program lists the schedule of the service, news for upcoming church events, and information for various church groups.
