Description

This handwritten letter, dated May 31, 1943, is written from W. N. Bogan Jr. in St. Petersburg, Florida where he is stationed for training to his parents and family in West Point, Mississippi. The letter describes his experience at the rifle range, practicing walking through tear gas, and other training exercises. The letter goes on to discuss his pay, a boat trip he took, and his experience with church. The letter is written on United States Army Air Forces St. Petersburg, Florida stationary with a pare of golden wings in the top center of the first page. The envelope is postmarked Saint Petersburg, Florida, May 31, 1943 and "Free" is handwritten in the space typically reserved for the postage stamp. Included with the letter is a program for the May 30, 1943 services for St. Peter's Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. The cover of the program is missing and the inside of the program includes the rector's name, and the church's contact information. The program lists the schedule of the service, news for upcoming church events, and information for various church groups.
