Description
This handwritten letter, dated October 16, 1943, is written from W. N. Bogan Jr. in Lexington, Virginia where he is stationed for training to his mother, Catherine F. Bogan in West Point, Mississippi. The letter discusses how difficult things are, his upcoming exams, the weather and what the food is like. The letter goes on to describe all the girls he's dating and discuss the news he's gotten from home. The letter is written on A. S. T. Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia stationary with and eagle and shield logo in the top center of the first page. Several newspaper clippings are included with the letter. The envelope is postmarked Lexington, Virginia, October 16, 1943 and "Free" is handwritten in the space typically reserved for the postage stamp.
