Description

This receipt documents the payment of a one year subscription for Thomas Darden to the Fayette Chronicle, published by Paddock and Culley. The subscription covers volume 1 to volume 4 for four dollars and volume 4 to volume 5 for five dollars for a total of seven dollars. The payment was received on January 5, 1869 by Paddock and Culley, proprietor. The left edge of the receipt names the newspaper and notifies the price of the subscription at four dollars per annum, payable in advance. The text describes "Job work neatly and expeditiously executed." There are some water and mildew stains on the left portion of the receipt.
