Description
This handwritten letter, dated July 27, 1858, is written from Thomas J. Heard to his cousin, John P. Darden expressing his pleasure at having received a letter from Darden previously and his excitement at hearing from his relations from that area. The letter goes on to express apprehension about the health of Darden's county and the effect that any overflow of the Mississippi River might have on it and their relatives there. The letter concludes by updating Darden on Heard's family and the economics in his area.
