Description

This postcard features a sepia toned image of the Mississippi Governors' Mansion in Jackson, Mississippi, a two-story masonry structure painted white, basically rectangular in plan. Its front facade is five bays wide, each bay articulated by pilasters with scrolled capitals; bays on the side elevations are separated by doubled pilasters. The center bay is larger, and is fronted by a two-story half-round portico supported by four columns. A full entablature encircles the building, ending in dental molding on the cornice below the roof line. The publisher's name is printed in red below the bottom right edge of the image. An inscription is written sideways on the left edge of the card that reads "Just arrived 3/20/5 M. M. C.". The back of the card is addressed to Miss Eva Corrick in Dallas, Texas. The card is postmarked Jackson, Miss., March 20, 1905 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right of the card.
