Description
This color picture postcard features a barge named "Little Lake" moving through the raised portion of Bascule Bridge on the Pearl River at the NASA Mississippi Test Facility in Hancock County. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard with publisher information and indication for stamp placement; the description reads, "Bay St. Louis, Miss.--The barge, Little Lake, brings the S-II-T, all-system test model of the second stage of the Saturn V Apollo space vehicle, through the Bascule Bridge at the NASA Mississippi Test Facility in Hancock County, Mississippi, on the historic east Pearl River. The stage arrived from Seal Beach, California where it was assembled. The S-II stages will be thoroughly checked out and test fired at MTF before being shipped to Cape Kennedy, Florida, for an active role of launching the first American astronauts to the moon.
