Description
This color postcard features Fort Massachusetts on Ship Island with people depicted walking along the beach toward the building. The title across the top reads "Fort Massachusetts, Ship Island, Near Biloxi, Miss." "Photo by Anthony V Ragusin" is typed along the bottom edge of the card. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for postage stamp placement. The description in the upper left corner reads "Historic Fort Massachusetts was built by the Union Army and Navy during the War between the States. It is fourteen miles directly south of Biloxi. Here on Ship Island, the headquarters for the West Gulf Blockading Squadron for the U. S. Navy was maintained during the War." "$1.50" is written in pencil in the bottom right corner of the card.
