Description
This color picture postcard features a barge bringing the S-II-T test model of the second stage of the Saturn V Apollo space vehicle down the Pearl River to the Mississippi Test Facility in Hancock County, Mississippi. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides artist and publisher information as well as indication for postage stamp placement. The description in the upper left reads "Bay St. Louis, Miss--The barge, Little Lake, brings the S-II-T, all systems test model of the second stage of the Saturn V Apollo space vehicle, through the Bascule Bridge at the NASA Mississippi Test Facility in Hancock County, Mississippi, on the historic east Pearl River. The stage arrived from Seal Beach, California where it was assembled. The S-II stages will be thoroughly checked out and test fired at MTF before being shipped to Cape Kennedy, Florida, for an active role of launching the first American astronauts to the moon.
