Description

This postcard features a black and white sketch of a home overlooking a river. The sketch depicts trees and other foliage around the house and a cupola and two chimneys are visible along the roof of the home. The river is depicted in the foreground of the drawing. The title in the lower left corner of the card reads "Darwood on the Jourdan"; the artist's name, J Carl Hancock, is written at the bottom right corner of the card. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard. The description in the upper left corner reads "Darwood on the Jourdan--Lovely home and gardens of Dr. Emmett Lee Irwin overlooking picturesque Jourdan River from its South bank and opposite Kiln, Miss. Darwood is 60 miles from New Orleans and near Bay St. Louis, Miss."
