Description
This postcard features a black and white image of the men and women of the River and Harbor Committee of Gulfport, Mississippi gathered in front of a riverboat that is docked at the harbor. The people are wearing late nineteenth century clothing and the riverboat has a large stack and a raised, enclosed cabin among a system of sail posts. The title of the card is printed along the bottom of the image. An inscription is written along the bottom of the card. The back of the postcard is addressed to Mr. John S. Moore in Birmingham, Alabama. The card is postmarked twice, though only the Birmingham, Alabama postmark, dated February 1909, is partially readable. A green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner of the card. An inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]

[from the back]I guess when you see my name signed on here you will say "Who is she?" I haven't forgotten you but the duties of the dignified woman get more and more burdensome and I have been simply overwhelmed with geometry, algebra, Latin and all the rest. [from the front] Just finished exams and came out very well. I have lots of things for us to do when you come--tennis, horseback, sailing, etc. L. A.
