Description

This postcard features a black and white image of the driftwood, dead animals and fish that washed ashore after the Hurricane of 1947, presumably in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The sea wall can be seen to the right. The title of the card is printed in white along the bottom edge of the image. The storm which is most commonly called the 1947 Fort Lauderdale hurricane but is sometimes referred to as Hurricane George, the 1947 New Orleans hurricane, or the 1947 Pompano Beach (or Broward) hurricane, struck the Gulf Coast in September 1947.
