Description
This is a portfolio/packet of 18 connected postcards with more than 20 scenes, printed by E. C. Kropp of Milwaukee, of scenes in Gulfport, Miss. Inside is a two-paragraph essay describing Gulfport as Mississippi’s leading seaport, with extraordinary descriptions and detail of Gulfport in the 1920s. Views include: East Beach Sea Wall; Bank of Gulfport; Edgewater Gulf Hotel; Gulf Coast Military Academy; Bathers enjoying Gulf waters; Elks’ Club on the Gulf of Mexico; West Beach Sea Wall; Pine Hills Hotel on the Bay; Moonlight on the Gulf of Mexico; Twenty-fifth Avenue; U. S. Post Office and Federal Building; West Beach Driveway, Old Spanish Trail; Back Lawn of Great Southern Hotel; Gulf-Park College; U. S. Veterans’ Hospital; East Beach Drive; Hotel Markam; Gulfport Country Club; Harrison County Court House; and Lawn on Gulf-Park College overlooking Gulf. Ca. 1920.
