Description

This postcard features a color illustration of the Great Southern Hotel in Gulfport, Mississippi, a large, four story building with a gabled roof lined with dormers. Sidewalks and walkways are on the lawn in front of the hotel and the gulf waters can be seen behind it. The title of the card is printed in blue beneath the bottom left edge of the image and an inscription is written upside down in the white space below the image. The back of the card is addressed to Mr. Mack Robinson at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. The card is postmarked Gulfport, Mississippi, November 20, 1907 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. An inscription is written sideways on the left half of the card. [see transcription field}

[on the back] Hello Mack:- Your card was a pleasant surprise. Glad you're so near Gpa [and] hope you'll try [and] come over one Sunday. Coby is fine. Was here last Sunday, I will be here Xmas. Can't you come over then? Say, have you met Mr. J. C. Jones who is studying medicine there? He is from here [and] is fine. Best wishes-Clora. [on the front] 11/20/07 Say I'll send Cody your address [and] let him write you. If you care to you can write him at Chesson, Ala. How do you like N. O.? Fine I hope. Punkie is fine. Yes, you bet I miss Ball yarns.
