Description
This postcard features a black and white illustration of oyster shells piled high on either side of a track at an oyster canning factory in Biloxi, Mississippi. A white building with light poles in front is at the far end of the track. The title of the card is printed along the bottom edge of the image with an inscription written below it. A postmark for Lincoln, Illinois, February 28, 1908, is stamped in the bottom center of the image. The back of the card is addressed to Miss Mary Atkins in Lincoln, Illinois. The card is postmarked Biloxi, Mississippi, February 26, 1908 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. An inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]

[from the front of the card] Canning factory in background. Oysters "best in the world." [back of the card] Tuesday 2/25/08 934 W. Beach St. Biloxi, Miss Dear Friend: This is not a very pretty card but gives an idea of the immense quantities of oyster shells--all streets paved with them. Beautiful weather. Spent [?] days in the woods last week. Children well and Dr. C. much better. Hope you and your dear mother are well [and] happy. Aff. Nettie R. [sic]
