Description

This postcard features a color illustration of the New Hotel Biloxi in Biloxi, Mississippi, a three story Southern Colonial building with white columns at the front entrance and portico, white railings on the second floor balcony, and white dentil molding along the front gable. The hotel lawn includes a stone path that leads to the hotel and within the path is a colorful flower garden with four stone benches on either side of the walkway that surrounds it. Early twentieth century cars are parked in front of the hotel and two short Palm trees stand on either end of the portico. The title of the card is printed along the top left edge of the image. The back of the card is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Patterson in Stoughton, Wisconsin and is postmarked Biloxi, Mississippi, September 10, 1935. A green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and an inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field] A brief paragraph at the top left reads "The New Hotel Biloxi, located on West Beach Boulevard, commands a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel is a striking example of lovely Southern Colonial architecture and is on the Old Spanish Trail."
