Description

This envelope bears black and white illustrations of two hotel buildings. The Natchez in Natchez, Mississippi is depicted on the top left of the envelope as a five story hotel with a dome on the corner of the roof that faces the street. Hotel Cowan in Greenville, Mississippi is depicted in the lower left of the envelope as a split, split story building with a two story section between two four story section. The center illustration is of a bundle of cotton with "Hotel Cowan" printed in red ink over it. The Greenville postmarked, dated may 1, 1907 is stamped over the illustration and a red, two cent George Washington postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner of the envelope. The envelope is addressed to miss Emma Clap in E. Santa Cruz, California. A postmark for Santa Cruz, California, May 5, 1907 is on the back of the envelope.
