Description
This postcard features a black and white illustration of 22nd Avenue in Meridian, Mississippi looking south after the March 2, 1906 tornado. Damaged buildings are seen on the left side of the street and the street is filled with a large crowd of people are crowding the street among debris. The tile of the card is printed beneath the bottom edge of the image. An inscription is written at the top of the image that reads "The [?] pole is no where down here. G. P. H. 7-25-06" [sic] The back of the card is addressed to Miss Millie Frazin in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The card is postmarked Meridian, Miss., July 25, 1906 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner.
