Description
This color image depicts a red brick wall with arched tunnels. Colorful bushes edge the wall at the top and at the bottom. People are standing on the top of the wall. The back of the card describes the image as "Fort Massachusetts, Ship Island, Mississippi Gulf Coast Ship Island, in the Gulf of Mexico is one of the most historic islands in the United States. Fort Massachusetts was built by the Union Army and Navy during the War between the States. Here the Federal Navy maintained headquarters for its West Gulf Blockading Squadron."
