Description

This photograph features a group of children posed in front of a brick building with two windows visible. There are four rows of 41 second and third graders and two teachers. The photo is mounted on black paper and a white paper is fixed to the bottom center with the names of the children listed. The children identified in the list are as follows: 1st row, Soule Miller, Newman McPhereson, Isaac Arledge, Lane McKenzie, Dewy Chisolm, Jim Sims, Guy Thigpen, [??], [??], Max Joiner, and Willie Raspberry; 2nd row, Lucille Shoemaker, [??], Mary Ann Mosely, [??] Lovena Brown, Estelle French, [?] McLauren, [??], [??], and Paul French; 3rd row, Leta Mae Weeks, [??], Emma Crosby, Myrtis Massey, Leona Hall, Emily Denson, Estelle Yelverton, Hortense Hinton, Naomi Lowe; 4th row, [??], [??], Lowell Horn, R. J. Burnett, Otis Holder, Herman Thompson, Addie Brown, Ernest Holder, Orlean Nicholson, Neil Yelverton, and [??]. The teachers names are illegible. The back of the photograph contains handwritten notations of the date, the school name and one of the children pictured on front. The paper containing the identification of the children in the portrait is folded back and pasted at the bottom center.
