Description

This postcard features five black and white images of buildings in Port Gibson, Mississippi. Clockwise from top left are the Claiborne County Courthouse, the Presbyterian church, Chamberlain-Hunt Academy, the Episcopal Church, and Port Gibson Female College. The courthouse is a two story building with a tall dome in the center of the roof. The Presbyterian church is a one story building with a bell tower topped with a tall steeple. Chamberlain-Hunt Academy is a large, three story building with a second two story building to the right, both of which are partially obscured by trees on the lawn in front. The Episcopal Church is a one story building with a tower on the far right corner though most of the church is obscured by a large, leafy tree in front. Port Gibson Female College is a two story building with a cupola in the center of the roof and trees on either side. The title of the card is printed in the upper right corner. The back of the card is addressed to Mrs. H. G. Rucker in Natchez, Mississippi and is postmarked Port Gibson, Mississippi, May 29, 1908. A green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and an inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]
