Description
This black and white postcard features the two houses and a monument on the right side of a dirt road. The monument is white stone near the road. The house nearest the road is round with a dome roof and pillars lining the front porch. The house behind it is two story colonial with two chimneys and a large dormer in the front roofline. A man on a horse and a horse drawn buggy are on the road. The title along the bottom of the card reads "Illinois State Mon't, and Old Shirley House, Known as the White House during the siege, Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for correspondence, address, postmark, and postage stamp placement.
