Description
This color postcard features a street scene with a Tudor style house surrounded by a stone fence and trees on the left. A horse-drawn buggy is on the left side of the street and an early twentieth century car is on the right. Utility poles are on the right side of the road at the sidewalk. The title on the left beneath the image reads "Vicksburg, Miss. South Street. " An inscription is handwritten along the bottom of the card. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked Vicksburg, Mississippi, October 28, 1906. A description in the lower left reads "South Street is one of the cross streets of the city: while not one of the most important thoroughfares, it presents a pleasing appearance. The buildings are from three to four stories in height, many of them attractive types of a bygone day and generation." The card is inscribed and is addressed to Mr. Joe Fletcher in St. Louis, Mississippi.
