Description
This color postcard features three naval ships, varying in size, out on the water with a coastline in the background. The title along the top reads "Uncle Sam's Training Ships, Harbor Springs, Mich." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard made in Germany and provides publisher information, as well as, indication for correspondence and address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is place in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked twice. The first postmark is Petoskey, Michigan, October 9, 1908 and the second postmark is Rye, New York, October 12, 1908. The card is inscribed and is addressed to Miss Emma Sandford at Rye Seminary, Rye, New York.

October 9-1908. We are all ready to make our move and I plan on almost [?], for so many things can happen in eight months, before we come back again. I received your postcard from Rye and I'm so glad you enjoyed my voluminous letter. Write when you find time and tell me about your new life. Goodbye Lovingly, Gase.
