Description
Rev. James A. Lyon handwrote this 275 page journal, the third volume of his private journals, encompensing the years 1850-1860. The journal details his life as a minister and as a father while in St. Louis, Missouri and Columbus, Mississippi. The journal includes his thoughts on the church, his time teaching at a school, his move from Missouri to Mississippi, and includes a record of his family history. A history of the Commencement of the Presbyterian University in the City of St. Louis is included on page 109 during 1854. A retrospective is included at the end of each year recorded.
