
Artifacts
The Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana consists of approximately 12,000 artifacts, statuary, prints, paintings, broadsides, ephemera, photographs, philately, collectibles/miniatures, and numismatics. Materials are housed in 20 map case drawers, 30 cartons, and a variety of loose statuary, prints, and paintings. The collection also includes nearly 100 original manuscripts and the Claude Simmons collection which consists of approximately 12 bankers boxes of Lincoln related materials and scrapbooks. There are also approximately 15,000 books, journals, and pamphlets separated into two collections: the Lincoln Book Collection and the Civil War/Collateral Book Collection.

The object is an unused book jacket for The Lincoln Assassination Riddle, edited by Frank J. Williams and Michael Burkhimer. The predominant colors are maroon, cream, yellow, red, and black. The front panel features an image of John Wilkes Booth with Satan standing at his shoulder (Satan Tempting Booth to the Murder of the President by John L. Magee). The book's title and editors are also on the front panel. The front flap features information regarding the book's contents. The back panel contains various reviews and publication information, while the back flap contains editor, publisher, and front cover information. The spine contains the title and editors' last names. A duplicate copy is also included in the collection as well as documentary information.

Lincoln and His Family-At the White House

The color print is a reproduction of H.A. Thomas's portrait, Abraham Lincoln & Family (ca. 1865). In the image, Lincoln is shown seated holding a book in his lap as two of his children stand by his side. Mary Todd is also shown seated with the smallest Lincoln child seated at her feet. The image was enclosed in a black wooden frame but was removed for preservation. On the frame's glass is a sticker inscribed with the number 54.
