Artifacts

The Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana consists of approximately 12,000 artifacts, statuary, prints, paintings, broadsides, ephemera, photographs, philately, collectibles/miniatures, and numismatics. Materials are housed in 20 map case drawers, 30 cartons, and a variety of loose statuary, prints, and paintings. The collection also includes nearly 100 original manuscripts and the Claude Simmons collection which consists of approximately 12 bankers boxes of Lincoln related materials and scrapbooks. There are also approximately 15,000 books, journals, and pamphlets separated into two collections: the Lincoln Book Collection and the Civil War/Collateral Book Collection.

The medal features the right-side profile of Abraham Lincoln. On the medal's reverse, an inscription within laurel wreath terminating in American shield is shown. [REF: Sullivan, AL 1860-6].

The bust features the likeness of Alexis de Tocqueville, a French deiplomat. It was commissioned by C-SPAN.
Lincoln National Reinsurance President's Trophy

Avard Fairbanks

The square plaque depicts an engraving of Abraham Lincoln seated on a stone with a book in his proper left hand and his proper right hand resting on a dog. This image is a reproduction of a sculpture, known as Lincoln Reading the Life of George Washington by Dr. Avard Fairbanks. The sculpture was chosen as the Lincoln National Reinsurance President's Trophy. The plaque's reverse features documentary information regarding the trophy and statue.
Action Between the Kearsarge and Alabama

Farrell and Son

The black and white engraving depicts the USS Kearsarge and CSS Alabama fighting, presumably at the Battle of Cherbourg. It is printed on off-white paper with black ink. The engraving appears to have been removed from a bound volume.

Cartes-de-visite depicting a bust-length portrait of Abraham Lincoln. According to Lloyd Ostendorf, Mary Todd Lincoln declared this portrait to be the best likeness of Lincoln. The negative of this particular photograph was destroyed in the Chicago Fire of 1871..
