Description
This handwritten letter, dated March 14, 1873, is written from Peleg Clarke Jr. to his wife, Mary T. Clarke and their children concerning the conditions he was met with while attempting to move his sawmill operation to Norfolk, Virginia. The letter explains that another sawmill operation beat him to the area and has already laid claim to the best timber. The letter goes on to describe his options of where he could move the operations to.
