Description

This black and white illustration is a map of Charleston Harbor and the surrounding area. The map shows military placements such as Fort Sumter, Cumming's Point, Fort Shaw, Fort Ripley, as well as area landmarks such as Ashley River, Mount Pleasant, Main Ship Channel, James Island, and Cooper River. There is a smaller inset map within the lower left corner that focuses on James Island and the forts nearby. The map is on page 68 of volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay and is captioned "Charleston Harbor and Vicinity". The book title, "Abraham Lincoln" is at the top of the page.
