Fifer, Governor of the State of Illinois, requesting for new legislation for upgrade the present Reform School to house more boys from the local penitentiaries to the school for reformation purposes. They believe that the school will give these wayward boys a better chance of being productive members of society.

This pamphlet provides the transcript of Abraham Lincoln's address to the Washingtonian Temperance Society in at the Second Presbyterian Church, in February 1842. His address praises the recent success of the temperance movement and examines the causes of that success ""if we would have it to continue."" The pamphlet includes a portrait of Lincoln on the cover, an illustration of the Second Presbyterian Church on the title page, and an illustration of the Lincoln Homestead on the page preceding the address.
