Bill of sale for thirteen-year-old Walker, described as a “mulatto boy,” sold by George E. Gillespie, to slave trader Warren Offutt, who sold him to merchant John Henderson.
Transcription
Know all men By these presents that I George E. Gillispie of the County of Woodford and State of Kentucky Now in the town of Natchez hath this day [[?]] in and sold unto Warren [[?]] one matato Boy by the name of Walker aged about thirteen for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollards to me in hand payd the receipt of the payment of the money is here by [[?]] George E. Gillispie [[...]]
