Description
This handwritten letter, dated July 11, 1943, is written from W. N. Bogan Jr. in St. Petersburg, Florida where he is stationed for training to his father in Memphis, Tennessee. The letter describes his record firing experience at the firing range, the Russian sailors staying in the hotel across the street from him, and what's going on with the other men in his squadron. The letter is written on U. S. Army Air Forces stationary with gold wings over a silver star with a red dot in it with in a blue circle. The envelope is postmarked Saint Petersburg, Florida, July 12, 1943 and "Free" is handwritten in the area typically reserved for the postage stamp.
