Description

This handwritten letter, dated July 15, 1943, is written from W. N. Bogan Jr. in St. Petersburg, Florida where he is stationed for training to his father in Memphis, Tennessee. The letter informs her that he's still in St. Petersburg but in a different room, describes what he's been doing, and confesses that he's nervous about starting classes again. The letter is written on U. S. Army Air Forces Technical Training Command stationary that features images of three hotels, soldiers, war planes and a woman on a beach. The envelope is postmarked Saint Petersburg, Florida, July 16, 1943 with "Free" written in the space typically reserved for the postage stamp. The image of an army pilot entering a plane surrounded by blue stars is in the lower left corner of the envelope.
