Description

This postcard features a color illustration of the exterior of Falk's Waffle Shop in Gulfport, Mississippi. The building is a small, white structure with red horizontal strips across the front and red and white awnings over the windows and the entrance door. A sign reading "Drive-in Drink Barq's It's Good" is hanging from a tall pole with a lower sign beneath it that reads "Genuine Bar-B-Z Pork Falk's Waffle Shop; Coca-Cola; Park for Service Only". A tree is depicted behind the signs with a small round sign reading "curb service" behind it. Another tree is on the right end of the building. The title of the card is printed along the bottom of the card. The back of the postcard is addressed to Mr. Paul Harsh in Alliance, Ohio. The card is postmarked Biloxi, Miss., September 6, 1949 and a green, one cent George Washington postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. Text advertising Falk's Waffle Shop is printed at the top left and an inscription is written beneath it on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]

9/5/49 Hello Paul and Dolores, Been having a wonderful trip. Have seen plenty of interesting sights. Was caught rut in the swamps in that sotrm yesterday. Boy was that something. Have plenty to tell you. When we get home which will be Sat or Sunday. I'll take good old Ohio myself. Hope everything is o.k. with Both of you. Love Mom and Dad [sic]
